You know, I've read that Nissan used the 3.0 AJV6 engine used in the S Type as inspiration when they were designing the 3.5 and.3.7 engines. It became clear early on that they wouldn't be able to replicate the brilliance of the.Jag engine, so they carried on and produced a thoroughly ...reasonable....engine.

Update. Jag reached 22mpg...but has now slipped back again.
Central locking has developed a fault. When locked, it opens again (as if a door is not closed properly). And it now also locks after you open it. Slightly awkward but manageable.

Love the waft factor, love the smooth engine, effortless.

One of the latches will be worn, common. Highly likely to be the drivers side.

Crix,

I had to have the lock mechanism mentioned by Andi replaced about a year ago - known weakness.

One thing to try - disconnect the negative terminal for 10 minutes - say a prayer and hope it resets?

Cost me £173-48 at Danbury Auto Electrical - labour was £48-00

X Type of course...not S Type

Crix,

Check...do you have a lock on the passenger door?

If not you can be stuffed if the drivers door will not open...
