It's just not me - sorry Dude ...

However, it does make me think there must be more exciting cars out there than the Golf R or S3 .... it does make me very reluctant to get 4 cylinders again ... maybe I need to add 6 cylinders to the list ....

Can't see me buying an S5 either - my experience with A5's leads me to believe they are too dull ...

335i / 435i on the other hand !!!

... and we end back at 911's - lol.

I just need to take a brace pill, and trade off the risks against lack of depreciation .... study

... or full circle back to the Golf R - which gives
me more space, a better ride, and a change from the 1 series ... but I can't get excited by a Golf - no matter how fast .... argggghhhh

I've probably said it before but I'd have a M135i over the Golf R, and it meets your requirements above - is it just the case that you already have a 1 Series and want something different?

Or if you want something with both very minimal depreciation and not very scary running costs - Mk2 Focus RS (assuming you can live with the image, and fwd).

Oh, not auto either i guess.

All things considered - I think the M135i is a good option ... there is an awful lot to love about the 1 series ....

I guess my only hesitation is spending £5k+ just for the power .... whereas if I change to a Golf I can get 4wd, and have something different .... M135i though ticks virtually every box ....

... and kinda brings me back to whether I should just chip my car, and live with it a bit longer - auto for me isn't a deal breaker ...

4x4 Golf is practically what I've got. Yeh it's great actually. Just like a normal car. I would have the Audi A5 with 4 wheel drive and coupe though over that.

BMW 1 series with the 3 litre engine is the one to get.  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Too many miles that one (especially for that price)

Mines 10k miles, so wouldn't want to jump to that many miles ....

This would be the target ...

Newer than mine, similar miles, good colour (I'd only buy white or blue), got the all important tints and leather.

Nice. These are quite plentiful though if you are not too bothered about a particular spec or mileage.but...it sounds like you are, so fair enough.
It's all about the engine LK! 6 cyl is gonna give a new sounds and feel and character to the car. You could remap your current one and yes it would probably be more than fast enough ....but...would it feel any different? Apart from being quicker.

Now that I drive a 3.0 24v v6 engine.....the feeling of always having power and torque in reserve....it's very nice.
The mpg....less so! But a 135i is gonna be more reasonable on fuel.

LK - don't obsess too much about mileage. Your current car, with current mileage driven around London (slow speeds, speed humps etc etc) has probably had more wear and tear than a 30k motorway cruiser. More applicable with a 3 Litre car also.

Go for the FSH and all documented invoices if you can. Your day to day driving will bring the average down and thus slow depreciation..

Buy one this week please!!

Unless of course... you'd rather wait for this?

2.5 litres.

5 cylinders.

400PS.

4.1 seconds 0-60mph.

BOOM!
