Engine overheated due to being stuck in traffic for so long, then kept cutting out. Sad There was a Mini also stranded about 50 yards down the road that had overheated too!

Is that a reflection of a red faced traffic warden under the bonnet?

Modern cars, eh? Rolling Eyes

I was stuck in rush hour traffic in my 17 year old motor.

It was roasting, but I simply turned on the air con...

Imagine that? Cool

Not entirely sure.. we did look twice at the photo but couldn't work out exactly what it was. Possibly the ghost of a fellow disgruntled Renault owner? Shocked

I had the air con on too, must have been too much hard work for the engine lol.

Funnily enough, it's the two newest cars I've owned that have left me stranded at some point (2007 Astra and 2011 Laguna). Having said that, the Astra had an Italian engine and this Renault obviously has a French engine... never got stranded in the cars I've had with Japanese/German/Swedish/British engines! Smile

Not sure - it's never done it before and hasn't done it since. I'll mention it when it goes in for a service soon. Smile

Ah right! I assumed it was like....FUBARR'D.

Fingers crossed.

I still like my Frenchies. They have their foibles...but also have character.

My first Megane was a 2000 W 1.9DTi....and we went to the lakes in it. We went up a really steep road/track and parked at the top and parked. The car cut out and decided it did not want to start. We were in the middle of nowhere, no signal etc. Miles from anywhere...and no-one around.
So we pondered about what we were going to do...and had a few minutes fresh air to think about it / worry.

In that time..the car decided it would be happy to start again..and it was fine thereafter!

They definitely seem to have their quirks. Having said that, my dad had an M-reg Clio in the '90s that never went wrong. It actually felt well-made compared to the L-reg Fiat Tipo my grandad had - it never actually broke down but the build quality was terrible. The roof used to bend in if you rubbed it too hard when washing the car, and I remember when going over bumps that the dashboard seemed to move up and down about half a second behind the rest of the car it was that loose lol. That's character though I guess. Wink
