Why are you considering buying a £2k Focus? Are you indeed selling the 118i again?

If not...why are you keeping the 118i if you are buying a £2k Focus? The 118i will continue to depreciate if you drive it or not.

Please explain.

Oh, and for £2k, get a clean, late Mk1. The MK2s of that age will likely be quite tired. I'd argue that a MK1 is the better car anyway.....and you will have fun on the right roads....

As an aside, looking around at a few dealers near my way, it's really not that expensive to get 300+bhp, as well as a good dose of luxury. Smile

£4k gets you this beast with 750Nm of torque...

Can you really get more car than this for £3k...?

If it wasn't for the running costs and mileage I do, I'd have one!

So to round off this from me ...
I went through all the options from £2k Focus, to £7k Focus, to Renaultsport Clio, to M135i to S3, to Toyota GT86, to Audi convertible .... With the aim of minimising depreciation, because my earnings should improve soon ... But concluded keeping the BM was the best answer.

I also decided i need to use it more out of London, as ironically one of the first times in Donkeys years i took it out of London was to look at a new car - and i fell back in love with it.

Thats not to say i don't want to change it, but i'll wait, and get something more special.

Interesting. Something that was discussed on the Jag forum is the spec of newer cars, and the fact that you can get a lower peered engine with the bodykit of a monster. I was reminded of this on the way home the other day when I went past an M120i - all the show with none of the go. Looked amazing.

So when LK tried the M135i it felt the same except the engine that made too much noise. Ho different would the experience be if his current car have poverty spec?

Interestingly with my XF it looks like a standard diesel one - the Volan alloys initially came out with the SV8. The when the XFR was launched a year later the Volans were put on the higher tuned 3.0D S. The XFR has the bonnet vents and different (though in my opinion not as nice as the Volans) wheels. Some have tried to make their SV8s look like XFRs. Personally I prefer the more understated looks of the original.

Another thing - how many £55k cars don't have front fog lights?!

The povety spec BMW 1 series are awful ....
The other thing is that whilst mine is only a mid range engine, its not that slow ..... And being a turbo it feels quite rapid in most traffic situations.
Being decent spec, with leather seats, and a fairly punchy engine, its actually a very nice place to be.
So, whilst some M sport / S Line, etc, cars could be classed as selling out the badges - some are actually pretty good, and not long ago would have been considered pretty hot.
Think back to the 2002 Golf GTI 2.0 with about 120bhp ... We've come a long way from there.

I don't doubt it at all. It's just not the same as in the olden days when there was such a huge difference ad the tiger spec only came with the big engine. Think Austin Maestro 1.3 vs Maestro Vandan Plas!!!
