observation

on Thu Jun 08, 2017 8:41 pm
why do 90% of BMW 3 series - low power owners (316/318/320) remove their model badges?

i see it every day, the 'single exhaust' brigade hide their engine model......why is this?.......you never see a debadged 335d, thats a proud number to boast.

i just thought it was really silly......i mean, who gives a shit what size engine it has? is it really that much of a problem if your 3 series is a 2.0 diesel?

i think, for me, it epitomises the kind of people that drive 3 series

this is all

I didn't need to de-badge my 1.6 litre.. it is so shameful the manufacturer doesn't badge them at all.

I quite like no badges at all cars. Audi A4 saloons's look really good painted in a matt colour and all badges removed. They just say it's a car.

I de-badged mine, but not through the desire to hide the engine, as everyone probably now thinks it's a diesel !!!

I've always de-badges my cars, even my TT when at the time it was top of the range ....

The only de-badging on my cars was when they fell off

Have you also noticed that even the single exhausts are unusually large on the 3-series, sort of rectangular, but rounded?

My Civic simply says 'CIVIC' on the back.

I might get a Type R badge for it.

NOT.

I don't know - in some areas it probably makes it less likely to be nicked!

I think you must be able to spec them without a badge. I know someone with a new 330d and it doesn't have a badge.

If I get the XFR, I'm thinking about de-bonneting it; getting rid of the vented one and replacing with a normal one. I'm told it's only aesthetic.

I think Huge will go for it. He demands power....then more power.

Whats next after the XFR. XFRS? XKRS?

This is not a bad thing! Truly petrolheadworthy!

Mine was de-badged when I got it. I actually think it looks better de-badged. I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't already done.

I know a lot of M135i owners de-badge theirs to try to hide the identity (for theft prevention), but the exhausts give it away, as does the Internet when you search the reg number!
