I facking love my car

on Fri Aug 04, 2017 8:58 pm
its just so utterly versatile....i did a 600 mile trip this week for work using mostly Eco Pro mode and it managed 48mpg.....mostly around 80-85mph

then today, i left work (52 miles away) stuck it in sport and changed over to manual and it can just take on anything, its shocking how quickly you can hit 100 coming off a roundabout (i've set it to bong at 100 and tell me to slow down)

nearly 5000 miles together, its just utterly brilliant in every way!

Glad you're so happy with it - perfect blend of performance and economy.

Need an update to your review and more pics please!

Nice one. ....

I was wondering the other day how you were getting on.

My 1 series needs to go - i love it - but its time - One option is the 911 - but deep down its a 330i convertible I want I think.

I'd rather an E class convertible, but the engine choices are sheet unless you want a diesel ... and I want a fast rear wheel drive normally aspirated petrol convertible- which equals 330i

When you compare the performance between the 330i and 330d or A5 3.0TDI vs S5 you really stuggle to justify the petrol alternative...

LK, TRUST me, the 6 pot diesels under load do not sound like a diesel, the engine has virtually no 'clatter', i will try and get a video over the weekend.

oh and you'll be wanting the 4 series, as I believe the 3 drop top no longer exists.

considered a 440i? apparently they are VERY good

Oh, yeah - I loved that E350 cdi Merc ... but for the short journeys I do, the reliability aspect would bother me, and ultimately, I would just rather a petrol.

Can't really afford a 4 series with a decent engine ... a late 3 series convertible it might have to be.

The new 330is are 2.0 turbos (and as said, labelled as 4 series) so you must be talking old shape 3.0 330i?

Yep, a 2013 (ish) 330i convertible, with the Nav, etc, is about my limit.

Life seems to be getting in the way of buying seriously expensive cars, so £15k - £17k, would be nice and comfortable for me, and would mean no monthly costs.

For what I do and use my car for - that's more than enough to spend.

Basil - 5,000 miles already ?!?!?! .... Heck - I've had the 1 series 2 years now, and only done 8,000 miles in it.

I still love the petrol manual combination. Yeah an auto diesel 6 cylinder might be good. But I have no experience of it.

LK, I doubt you will actually find better than your 1 series.

Every thing is going auto and even electric so it might be my last chance to drive petrol and change gears.  Very Happy

So if you're looking at in the region of 25,000 miles a year, whats the exit strategy then??

Change it every year before the miles mount up??

Or run it in to the ground??

I facking love my car...

Spot,

When I was younger and smoking 40 a day I could do "When I fall in Love" to the extent that my best mans mother heard Nat Cole on the radio one day and said "There's that guy that sings like Matt".

At New Year parties we always had to 'do a turn' - no turn was left unstoned!

I love the X as much now as I did in Oct 2001 - every drive...I feel it as part of my body somehow...sick or what?

VFC,

Jeremy Kyle has called me ... He says that the Jag has been in touch, and wants you to join it on a show.

The Jaguar has a confession.

It has a secret past.

Rumours have it, it was born a Mondeo ?!

It was virgo intacto the day I drove it out of the showroom in Ipswich...

VFC

PS- The Jaguar DNA was tested and confirmed by John Lyon... High Performance Club... on Millbrook Test Track at 130 mph.

I think I have a philia for my car.. That's probably what you mean VFC.

Jaguar, Impreza, but I doubt Spot's BMW will probably get driven in to the ground, never to return alive.

indeed, an annual swop out and a depreciation hit......its expensive, but work pay me 500 a month for a car allowance, so its justifiable

however, the thought that i would give it up is not even a consideration at the moment, it really is a magnificent piece of engineering...and that engine.....amazing
