Oil oil oil

on Wed Aug 16, 2017 3:53 pm
Probably a stupid question

If there was a leak from the rocker cover gasket (TT) would you expect to see oil leaking from all parts of the area or maybe just one or two places?

Been reading up on replacing the gasket and re sealing it - its way past my level of skill

There's definitely oil hitting the exhaust from the right hand side of the engine block and noticeable oil deposits there too

It really depends on whether the cover is loose or if the gasket has gone hard and shrunk in certain areas.

I had to replace a rocker gasket on a C4 and it had been put on too tight on one spot and twisted the rubber, so it only leaked at the back for around 3 inches.

Hope that helps. And BTW, it's a piece of piss to do a rocker gasket Wink

You da man, go on, have a go Cool

Annoyingly it was at ATS last week checking the exhaust and fixing the puncture. No mention of an oil leak when I chatted to the guy. I don't think they caused it but feckin annoying they didn't Spot an issue

Your above post reminded me of a speech test many years ago

What is the biggest mamal in the sea .........WHALE
What is the best car lubricant.........................OIL
What do vegetarians avoid..............................BEEF
What is the month after Sept.........................OCT

Try saying the answers out loud (when no children are present)?

Irish accent helps

Snake oil - Tesla - orders for half a million model 3 cars - produced 5.

GM sell the Bolt. From what I read it costs them 9k USD in loss for every one they sell, they take the loss because the environmental credits can be used for selling profitable oil drinking trucks.

Oil prices going up.

Oil coming out of the TT engine.

It's all about oil - even it's electric.

Mogs,

Not always about oil - sometimes about "religion"...

Speech therapy class in Dublin school - teacher says "Say after me"

Banana - children say slowly "Ba Na Na"

Apple - children say  "Aaa  plle"

Teacher says    Orange

Children say      BASTARDS

Such is life...

VFC

Paul - excuse my entering your thread .

Yeah it is sometimes about religion.

Let's hope in Dublin it will be a bit more. Teacher says EU. Children say bastards.

Very Happy

No worries VFC, not sure I've located the leak either. Found a pipe above it, some old rubber hose that looks manky
