I'd love to, but unfortunately trying to get on the property ladder means I'll be in the Volvo until it blows up... which might be sooner rather than later with the amount of oil and coolant its currently leaking, lol. Any car costing more than a 3-figure sum would be too expensive at the moment. Sad

I prefer the looks of your current car by some margin.
Also it might be a bargain at 20k but if something goes wrong it is going to have 90k car parts prices.
I like a barge but I reckon you'll need deep pockets for that one.

Interestingly, service costs are the same as the XFR - same engine etc etc. I checked with the local Jag specialist, and it shares the same suspension components as the XF. Strangely the only difference is the rear shock absorber/s - they are air filled, but actually cost less than the XFR springs?!!!!

BUT - some of the electrical stuff (i.e. the electronic dash) would be pricy I expect!

Driving home from Castle Combe yesterday, I was able to drive some nice roads - current car is rather nice...... great noise!!

The differences in costs will come when something specific to the XJ fails. But hey, it's not like you currently have a cheap to run car. I bet your fuel bill is scary.

Not as scary as mine.... I'm getting 16mpg at the moment. Some leccy gremlin in the MAF wiring.

I've saved hundreds since I got the bike, yet I'm quicker through the town Cool

I'm doing 10-12k miles a year, so a little scary. RFL is £49 per month, but on the other hand insurance is £260.

And a bit more than that sometimes. But, I can use the Smart car if needed - if I use the Smart (0.8 DTi), then my average mpg goes to 40+mpg.

I would also say that I have the best job in the world, this includes my commute. I seriously look forward to my trip to (and from) work!

I took my youngest up to Gloucester and back this evening (about 90 miles on the M5) - cruise control set to 70, I managed 28mpg! Happy days....

Living the dream ....

My commute is less than 2 miles ..... there are times this is a pain, because I have no reason to drive far, but I guess Incan always take the long way home.

Less than 2 miles! You need a decent pair of shoes not a car.

My S Type 3.0 Auto returned 17 in normal use. I could coax it up to approx 22 if I absolutely crept around..but it was muchly uneconomical. I don't regret it though. Lovely wafting around and she had some decent power when asked. I also managed to display 41mpg when cruising at 50mph on a perfectly flat bit of motorway...so in the right perfect conditions. ..it could be decent...but that was nigh on impossible in daily use.

Those economy figures are pretty awful for a 3 litre petrol. I'd expect better grom a V8.

Oh yes, they were very poor indeed! Very guzzly indeed. But it was a working Jag V6 for £399! I think it was the cheapest anywhere!

I have to admit I have looked at Jags but compared to the equivalent BMW economy is a disaster.
