A good day out....

on Wed Oct 25, 2017 6:57 pm
I was invited to the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club day at Castle Combe today - took the camera.

There were some fab cars there, but I decided not to take the XFR on the track on this occasion. There were a few other marques there; to start with the track was quite wet - interesting to see a little Lotus Elise easily keeping up with some powerful XKRs etc etc.

Also great to see an Audi RS5 keeping up with an F Type R on the twisty bits, only to be destroyed on the straights - The F Type - that V8 noise. Change of trousers!

The XJ racing spec was very rapid once the track had dried. 1400kg and a S/C 3L V6.

A Canon EOS 5DSR. 50 million pixels, and a 400mm Canon L series f5.6 lens. Cost a lot, but really very good indeed....

That's a great camera! I went from a 550D to a 6D, to the current one. The best thing to do is spend on the lenses as they can be used on future camera bodies.

Nice photo Doo, most of my pictures end up being on my phone because it’s always on me

Have been through a few Canons now Hugh, in that time I’ve had a few lenses. At the moment I’ve only got the two a 40mm one and the 18-200 which lives on the camera most of the time

I need to have a look at something like the 400mm though I think,

It depends what you want to use it for. I use a 400mm prime lens, but also take a 70-200mm one - both L series. Often disappointment in image quality is down to settings on the camera. Are you looking for a prime or a zoom? Also worth bearing in mind that the sensor on your 650 is smaller than my "full frame" one. This means that a lens on yours will be 1.6x "closer" than mine - i.e. more zoomed in. That is why a Canon 7D (cropped sensor) is considered a great sports camera.
