Choice of company cars...

on Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:46 pm
Last night my lad told me his grade of cars has been increased to a £40K limit.

He was previously looking at a Jag XE - his new limit takes him to an XF but he thinks it too big...his parking area is smallish... now looking at BMW - Merc and Audi to £40K limits.

He is currently favouring the Merc - I told him the latest satisfaction surveys put the Germans towards the botttom of the lists.

Any thoughts anyone?

I would recommend a Subaru.

OK mines a very much cheaper than this limit. But I cannot think about a reason to buy something more expensive. He will complain but everyone complains about there Subaru, but own them anyway.

He has a massive territory to cover - lives Chelmsford - covers as far as Cornwall - travels a LOT.

Needs dependability - currently has gas recycling problems with his big Volvo - nice motor though.

A friend with similar requirements went for a 3.0 Diesel Audi A4

12 months in he’s still just as happy with it

Audi A5 convertible starts list at 37,135 pounds. I would be looking at them the ones that have been stuck on the lot for a while and they want to get rid. My car was a bit like that - way below the list price.

I find the XE underwhelming.

The XF is sleek, imposing, subtle, elegant, attractive.

The XE just looks.....ordinary. To me.

It may be a great car though, I don't know.

I think the XE looks good. The fact that the vast majority of them along with BMWs, Audis, Mercs etc are 4 pot diesels is what makes them uninspiring, IMHO.
