2010 Focus 2.0 Titanium Estate

on Fri Feb 02, 2018 4:55 pm
Test drove one today.
The good bits:
Plenty of space inside, comfortable, nice driving position.
Reasonable poke, not as torquey but felt faster than my diesel.
Felt sure footed and goid ride quality.
A reasonable spec toys being the Titanium model, rear parking sensors, heated seats, cruise control, keyless entry and start.
A step up in terms of refinement. Feels more solid than my Focus. Doors closed with a reasuring "Thunk" rather than the old ford rattle.

The bad:
Steering is too light. Lost the amazing weighting of the Mk1.
Some proper nasty pastics inside. Made the interior trim of my mk1 feel luxurious in comparison, especially the door cards and dash around the stereo.
No isofix. Really Ford!? Not good enough. Standard on same age Vauxhalls.

Stuff specific to this car.
2 owners, all Ford history from new. Last owner paid for a 3 year service pack so it's never missed anything, even body work inspections.
Only 43k on the clock.
a few stone chips and a scrape om front bumper but dealer is getting this sorted on Monday.
However it's been used to tow something as it has a well used tow bar fitted. It is also my current car only 7 years newer and petrol, even down to the colour.
It is just a car, nothing flash and nothing to get even vaguely excited about.
I'm thinking on it. More car hunting to come this weekend.

I would get a Subaru Impreza.... It's got load of safety stuff most of which you don't need.

I have looked at 5dr WRXs. Post £500 tax ones with the 2 litre engine. Not sure I could stomach the running costs though.
