Possible car for LK

on Thu Feb 15, 2018 8:37 am
LK - I genuinely think this could be a car for you. Not the quickest hatch, but it seems to have "soul" compared to the German stuff.

May need to give it a year to get prices down a bit, but seems fab!

I find the motoring press quite amusing. Whichever is the newest hot hatch gets high praise - best ever etc, then later on they aren't so good. This is interesting though as it sounds like they've worked hard to make it involving. I do like a hot hatch, and I do like this!

Is it wrong that i think LK might just say "ugghh, a Hyundai??! Never"

Apologies in advance if this is not the case!

But yes. The car seems to be pretty damn good.

Looks like a good car - but I wouldn’t be spending £28k on any hot hatch, let alone a Hyundai !!!

My current options are .....

911 - had it last week, and it cost me a fortune in fuel, was impractical with the kids, and feels quite old now ... however that engine - wow !!!

Option 2 - E Class convertible- went to see a 2013 E350cdi the other day, but had sold before I got there .... very close to deciding this will be my next car - but just not sure about buying a diesel, and you just don’t see any of these with decent petrol engines.

Thoughts ???

Try some other things.

Youve mentioned E class convertibles loads of times but i think if you really wanted one, you'd have had one by now.

Lets think of some new things.

as you know, i very nearly bought an e class convertible before the 335d, however, it was the 220 and not the 350...........i liked it.......but it wasnt on par with the quality of the 3 series......which is bad considering the E should be on par with the 5

how about a 435d convertible LK?...........granted, more money, but the engine is farking amazing

LK - i3 like spot

Quick.

Cool

Funky

You dont do a lot of miles in town (i would have thought) so surely range wont be an issue

Will surely comply favourably with whatever London charges you need to pay (if applicable)

Will fit 2 child seats in the back (i would have thought?)

Something about the proportions of those doesn't sit well with me. Roof shape when up us just not right somehow....not sleek enough.

Roof down will be lovely though.

The diesel thing does bother me.

No electric cars - want some noise.

Ideally no BMW’s.

Definitely no RS3’s

Another Cooper S - only 5 doors - could be an option

Currently in the 911 on the M1 near Leicester .... this is a cracking car - but it’s not practical and is drinking fuel !!!

Just saying !!! Lol

It’s funny how a long journey changes your perception of a good car - right now, after 3 hours on the road, a nice fast Audi A5 would appeal !!

You’re getting old LK, very very old

Time to go back to 2yrs of Lotus driving

The A5 suffers like the 3 series, the big petrol engine is SO difficult to justify against the big diesel

Yep - yes I am ...

Oh, don’t get me wrong - the 911 is the way to travel !!!

I love how direct, even from the passenger seat, it feels ... the noise on acceleration is epic ..... just to say, that cars like the A5 have their place ... for example long road trips where you actually want to be able to hear some music !!! Lol.

I won’t be buying an A5 - nor a Lotus for that matter !!!

LK, it's like a bloody stuck record! (Sorry, I know I'm not one to talk).
This 911 thing. You either need to farking do it and get it out of your system or farking don't!

Whenever you've had it for a while...you say it's not right.
But then when you don't use it for a while, you think it's the dogs.

I know mate ...

I won’t be buying the 911

Feel like i’ve been there - done that.

The 911 is a dream .... but that dream isn’t realistic .... its like an advert on Tv ... you dream of whatever they are selling ... but the truth is, there is no substance behind it.

So, I know (lottery win outstanding, in which case i’ll Immediately buy a 991 and a Macan turbo), I won’t be buying the 911
