An extra £50 is a big enough deal for me not to want to be in that situation. I'd just take the focus off the road.

I’d just rather not pay a dealer another £500 for a car, to save £50 on insurance and tax.

True, but there really aren't that many cars for sale privately.

about 180 a tonne at the moment isnt it?

this really pisses me off with dealerships - none of them seem to want to budge on their price, i found it everywhere i went when looking for my last car......it was simply a case of 'thats the price, like it or lump it'...

so, you are offering me £1000 below the list price of my car and you're selling your car £1000 over list price (CAP) and theres no deal here?.....seeya

I've found this a few times. The dealer did say if I got finance through him he could have moved. Either the margins are too tight or it's a sellers market. I think that the current diesel scare may be having an impact on petrol values.

Scrspping?

A good service, and the cambelt is 5 years overdue.
Poor stsrting in cold weather so glo plugs may be on their way out. Or it might just be all sooted up.
Exhaust heat shield is hanging off.
Only got a short MOT.
Rustcomming through on the sills and tail gate.
Aircon doesn't blow old as the system has a leak.
Heater ducting to blow air into footwells is missing.

Bah, I can live with all of that! That's all stuff that's within acceptable limits for bangernomicing! Unless the sill rust affects the MOT of course.

Garage offered £100.
It was a joke, but I can't put emoticons in my posts when I uses the mobile vetsion of the forum.

No, too you £450...

In all honesty it would depend on what I get offered if/ when I finally find a car.

I will keep an ear in the air and the other close to the ground.

I have big ears, OK? No need to keep going on about it!
