Road Tax Rip

on Thu Mar 22, 2018 4:43 pm
Just renewed wife's tax (well, paid, won't apply until April 1.) and it was 30 quid. Her car weighs around a tonne and although it's not at all bad on fuel, it's a dirty diesel. It gets used every day and mostly short journeys.

My bike tax on the other hand is almost 3 times that Shocked

How does that work?

A machine that weighs very little, with an engine two thirds the size of her car and only two narrow wheels.

Why do I have to pay so much?

Because, on bikes etc, it goes off the weight on the rider Smile

It's the amount of co2 you give out. However, there is no tax on scotch eggs. Game set and match to scotch (eggs).

What you should be thinking is that your bike is less than £90 a year to tax.

Your bike is a bit older and hence not assessed under the same criteria as your wifes car.
