2016 Ford Mondeo 2.0 EcoBoost Auto

on Mon Mar 26, 2018 9:56 pm
So, having had the car nearly two weeks now, I've managed to have a longer drive when we went to the coast at the weekend.

I really like this car.

It's got so much kit on it, it's unreal. Think the salesman said it was over £3k worth of extras.

It's got Lane Departure Warning, Auto Dimming Mirror, Auto Dimming full beam headlights, speed sign recognition, reversing camera, parking sensors front and rear, cruise control, panoramic roof and Ford SYNC 3 with bluetooth streaming, usb slots, sat nav and climate control.

Inside the car is a nice place to be, soft touch plastics and it's really comfortable. The panoramic roof makes it feel really spacious in the car (although it does anyway, given the size of it).

The car goes like stink, it accelerates well, although I don't think it's listed with a very quick 0-60 time. It doesn't seem to do great on mpg on local runs, but at the end of the day, it's a heavy auto petrol car, so was never going to match a diesel. On a long run though, a mix of motorway and smaller roads with plenty of roundabouts, it averaged about 42mpg, which I'm happy with.

It holds the road extremely well and you can feel it really grips in the corners.

The gears are smooth and there's the option of a sport mode and you can also use the flappy paddles to move onto the next gear, or to change down if you think it's in the wrong gear.

Overall, a lot of car that's enjoyable to drive.

Sounds great. How much was it?
I saw a couple of older 2 litre Ecoboost Mondeos on AT but they only came with the powershift box which doesn't have a great write up, at least not the early versions.

Ian you mentioned you like the Focus too, how do they compare to drive?

I’ve had recent fiesta and focus hire cars but both had crappy poverty spec engines

Sounds good.

Ed loves his Mondeo too ... his is now 10 years old I guess, and nearly 80,000 miles ... and he still loves it.

Good cars.
