Um ..... it is a hard one to answer - I think coupe and convertible are subsections .... of
a type of car .... as in Sports Convertible or sports coupe.

I can see what you are saying, but I think a sports car is more to do with the layout and how it makes you feel.

Small, low, 2 (maybe 2+2) seats, and driver focused (for fun)

Not only that - go to any track day, and you’ll find MX5’s, GT86’s, etc on track.

Sports cars don't need to be very fast. The MGB is a sports car.

I know what you mean about handling and feeling the drive my kit car does that. However for me I’d put it alongside the MX5 lacking outright power (I still want a tuned ST170 engine in there)

Ive not driven later MX5’s I think the last was a mk1 or mk2, at the money they are I see the attraction but not 12-16k of GT86

The thing about the BRZ/GT86 is this - you get down into it and sit properly low down, steering wheel straight ahead of your, rfile bolt gear change, narrow pillars....it straight away feels like a proper 'sports' car rather than a more normal car that has been made sporty. I found the power good! 2.0 and 200bhp is surely plenty. But then again most of my cars have been much less powerful to compare.

I drove a 300 bhp WRX and the BRZ back to back....and only one was a drivers car. One was point and squirt and hold on tight (which IS fun) but the other was 'drive me how YOU want'.

The GT86 is all about how it drives.
