BMW M2 driven

on Mon Apr 02, 2018 11:08 am
Drove my brothers brand new M2 yesterday.

I wont bore you with a full review, but these are a few highlights

1. The sound is amazing on start up, it sounds angry and burbles loudly
2. The interior is plush, the digital dials are sublime and the seats hug tightly
3. straight in to sports/manual and we're off, take it easy and let the oil warm
4. time to play, drop to second (fast double clutch box), approach a corner and foot flat...power is immense!
5. LSD evident, it just feels completely planted, like nothing i've ever experienced.

to summarise, a seriously addictive turn of speed, sticks to the road like nothing i've ever experienced, very.....VERY fast!.

do i want one?.....no, its immense fun, but the 235 is plentiful and only 0.5 seconds slower to 60 (although the M2 feels a lot faster!) and only a 40hp hike in power- but for me, it would double my monthly outgoing on purchase price alone, not to mention the £800 a year tax for year 1 and £400 thereafter.

£800 for the first years tax!

Sounds great but you're probably right about the 235 being enough.

Thank you for the review. The M2s do have a real road presence.
