Let me check the MOT

Wow a mk1 golf cab for under £2k

It’s got a years MOT

Sheesh, sounds good

MOT advisories

Offside Front coil spring corroded (2.4.C.1b)
Nearside Front coil spring corroded (2.4.C.1b)
Nearside Rear coil spring corroded (2.4.C.1b)
Offside Rear coil spring corroded (2.4.C.1b)
Nearside Rear wheel bearing has slight play (2.6.2)
Offside Rear wheel bearing has slight play & wipers worn (2.6.2)
Front Windscreen has damage to an area less than a 10mm circle within zone 'A' (8.3.1a)
Vehicle structure has slight corrosion under bonnet (6.1.B.2)
Vehicle structure has slight corrosion underneath corroded (6.1.A.1)
Vehicle structure has slight corrosion underneath corroded (6.1.B.2)
Brake pipe slightly corroded all (3.6.B.2c)
Brake servo corroded but not excessively weakened & fuel hoses corroded (3.6.A.2b)
All suspension parts corroded & vehicle structure corroded
Foot baker just met the baker limit

Ouch! That’s gonna cost a few quid to fix

Given it's a cheap Mk1 Golf Cab that list isn't too bad. Give it a suspension refresh, two wheel bearings, brake lines, brake servo and fuel lines. Of course it depends on what the rest of the car is like.

If I knew someone to look after the bodywork I’d go for it

I had a 92 Jetta which was probably the most solid and best put together motaaaa I’ve owned!

Will be an old golf or corrado joining the family soon

Body work can get very expensive very quickly. I think with an older car there has to be an element of accepting it won't be perfect unless you have very deep pockets

I’m more interested in using it than preserving it but without driving 50-60 miles to view that kind of write up makes me assume there’s a lot of rust which may or may not be treatable before it becomes an issue
