Gearbox Service

on Tue Apr 03, 2018 6:30 pm
Well, I've just collected the XFR after a gearbox oil / filter service and software update. I understand the computer (g/box one) "learns" your driving style over a period of time.

Pulling away - HOLLY SH*T!!!!!! Felt like a full-bore take off in Sports Dynamic mode!!! Then accelerating onto the M5 (Standard drive mode) revving to 5000 revs! Very fast indeed......

Hopefully all will settle down soon......

Well, I popped out again this evening - a mixture of town, country and motorway driving aver about 25 miles. The gear changes are like silk now - soooo smooth. All settled down nicely.

When the foot it planted (even a little bit) the car is changing gear quicker than before. With a bigger extension of the foot it goes mental, but change downs (2 gears) are very crisp. Before there would be the odd jolt, but not now.

In Sport / Dynamic mode (using flappy paddles) it's the same story. Never noticed it before, but 2nd gear stretches to 70 mph!!! Then back into standard mode for steady progress.

So, just the one question...... Exhaust time?

Right - just need to ring the insurance company to see if there will be a hike in premium.....

Maybe a trip to Warwickshire on Friday...

I think so! The new software on the G/Box has made it so much more responsive. The blips on manual downshift are epic! So stage 2 exhaust is most tempting

See below - he's driving like a c0ck, but you get the idea!
