Busy day tomorrow!

on Tue Apr 10, 2018 9:22 pm
I have my GCSE exam starting tomorrow morning - 2 days with my Year 11s making edits etc. So, today the Head called a visit and Ofsted are coming to inspect!!!

This is quite good as I shall be in the exam, and they won't come in!!!! BUT they may wish to see me about as a Head go House!

I think I shall try that, "I'm very sorry, I appear to have parked my Jaaaggg in your space, old fruit!"

I wouldn't be against getting another cheap Jeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.

There was something very nice about wafting along in the S Type.

Yes, you could argue it wasn't a proper Jeeeeeeeaaaag, being based on a Lincoln and stuff but yeah. I think it had a certain.....something.

The X Type doesnt get my juices flowing.....but i suppose if a big engined one came up cheap enough...i'd be interested.

One thing putting me off is - the FIL got a 2006 X Type 3.0 Auto Estate - it had all of the ingedients to be a nice car.....but it was forever in the garage with constant problems, he had to get rid and lost loads of money on it.

Gone are the days when the 2 litre diesel was most frequently found in poverty spec.

Yep - Clementine is in year 1, and Tarquin is in reception.

I am the biggest teacher critic ... I think that all teachers should have had a career before they are allowed to be teachers, so that there life experiences aren't just ... School to College to University and back to School again.

However, I am very very happy with my school as a rule.

I'm happy with the school and the teachers but the pressure they are under by ofsted and on SATs performance is very evident. My 6 year old is supposed to read and practice spellings every night and do one piece of other homework a week. My 9 year gets spellings, reading, times tables and other homework on top. This is all about pushing the kids so that they show sufficient improvement between the two SATS tests. If they fon't thr school gets a kicking. The problem is that my 9 year old can now read far beyong his ability to comprehend what he is reading, consequently he get's bored. He is also ecpected to do power point presentations and research historical subjects. This causes a problem as it requires me to supervise and help him through it. Not easy when you're time poor. My 6 year old is doing ok but gets tired and should be having fun after school, not doing homework.
In essence the school are pushing some of the teaching onto the parents in order to get the required improvement out of the kids so that it ticks the government box. None of this is really required or even helpful for the kids IMHO.

What is wrong with these people - how do they sleep at night ???

I shared a house at Uni with this guy .. strange and confused little man .. who I am sure meant no harm ..... but the harm he has done is appalling.

It's sickening. It explains now why none of the teachers could or would say a single thing about it, they either didn't know or werent allowed to say.

We've had another head brought in since as a temporary placement but the school needs to get a long term stability going on again, it's one of the reasons we chose it, it was a 'good' school (quite small too, which we liked) Hopefully now that this is out in the open, we can move on. The parents have been totally in the dark...now they will be livid....but now we know whats happened, lets move on.

I looked at that article and there's more to it than whats reported . I get it he did a bad thing, but.... The press always embellish things and miss things out. I'm not in any way condoning what he did, but it does seem a little bit "Really?" Don't you think?

What evidence do you have to say that the press have embelished or missed things out? Mrs Teeps was a local reporter for s number of years and accuracy of court proceedings was very important.

What's wrong with it ?

All of his friends have similar names ... we call him Tark for short ....

Weirdest ones are the hippy ones ..... Sky, Waterfall, Zooma, Petal, Chase, Peacock.
