cars are a depreciating asset, no matter what type (with the exception of classics or those in high demand).....if depreciation is a major disadvantage, your choices would only ever be old, to the point where they are due for imminent failure, which is fine if you can fix them and don't mind the hassle

Agreed - you only live once, and you can’t take it with you .... and I for one will pay loads to keep out of garages and have a nice reliable car.
