Actually - scrap the XF - didn’t realise it’s not a hatch - that’s annoying !!

My boss has a car identical to this ... and the lease is coming up soon - might see what they offer it to him for ... he’ll want a new lease, but at the right price it’s an awesome car !!

You need a 330i touring with a panoramic roof.

No more BMW’s .... too complicated.

My 2 Mini’s, my 1 series and this 330i - too much to go wrong.

... and worst still - the dealers are awful.

Obviously my first 1 series was rejected in the end, this one is just impossible to get booked in.

Booked it in (had to wait 3 weeks for a loan car), after call after call after call trying to just make sure they were ready for me in the morning I get a call at 6.30 the night before - sorry Sir, we are so busy we won’t be able to do the recall work, we can do the diagnostics but it’s going to take us a few more days, and we can’t get you a loan car ...

So, I say that’s no good - I need a loan car - ok Sir, we’ll ring you when we have one - that was 3 weeks ago, so I guess i’ve been forgotten, and still no news on getting my recall done.

No more BMW !!!

The seats do fold forward. But - the newer shape X260 isn't as well built, and there is no V8 option!

You really don't want a diesel Audi - pottering around London at 5mph, short journeys will clog it in no time. Also repair bills for them are large I should think.

I doubt an A7 is going to be any less complicated than a 3 series LK

Tiz petrol my friends. 3.0T petrol. Rapido.

You could be right, but my experience with Audi is that when they do go wrong, the dealers are amazing, and get straight to the point and fix it.

Loz.. If you really think you are going to have less problems with ANY other manufacturer... You're living on planet cuckoo

The trick is finding a good one that hasn't been modded/chipped/fettled with by a tattoo clad knuckle dragging thicko.... This goes for Audi/BMW/vw/anything!

Come on dude, You're dissaslusioned by a run of B-cars, it's not BMW's fault

You might be right, Basil

Just feeling a bit disillusioned with yet another BMW product - BUT - I accept that I have been older cars because i’m too tight to lease or buy a new one .... just need to get mine fixed - thought I was there - but it appears - not yet !!

99% of the time it’s just fine - but when it throws it in to limp mode, it drives me crazy - probably just a small vacuum leak, or carbon build up - as soon as I can get it in to a decent garage I am sure it’ll be all good !!

On a positive note, it’s back, and it’s all still the same colour Laughing

Spot, I disagree. Audi may not be sny better but in my experience BMWs can be problematic in the eay that Japanese cars just aren't. He won't get a premium German motor that is any more reliable but there are other more.relisble makes and far better dealers.

this may be true........but realistically, for the equivalent Japanobox, what are your options?

Toyota: theres nothing to compare....you have the GT86, which is short nearly 100hp on the 330i, isn't a soft-top and is certainly not premium. Engine wise, there's nothing in the current Toyota range with a 3 litre/soft-top combination - which was clearly LK's choice.

Nissan:No soft top option unless you want a 370Z, which wouldn't work as it only has 2 seats.....Obviously the GTR is out of price range (and probably not great as a day to day commuter)

Infiniti: the only comparable car in their model line up to LK's current 330i is the Q60 convertible, have a peek on Autotrader, its not a looker.....and i suspect not a patch on the driving experience of a 330i

Honda: soft-top options as as follows: S2000, NSX......nothing in their model range that is comparative to a premium German motor

Lexus: they actually have a soft-top with large displacement.......which would be fine if you were stevie wonder, the SC 430 is a pig....in fact, its so ugly that I hear they crash themselves to look better. There is an IS convertible, but again, it's been styled by ray charles and has less 'premium' feel than a tesco bag for life.

so yes, Japans offerings may be more reliable, but it comes at a cost.....nothing will touch ze Germans in way of driver appeal......no more to say really

Agree on that score, except maybe a Civic Type-R. Fast, fun to drive and reasonably practical. Just missing the soft top.

I just don’t get on roads to make a type R feel that appealing these days ...

An nice comfy auto that pulls like a train, but in a linear kinda way is what floats my boat at the moment ...

Mondeo 2.0 SCTi. 237bhp Turbo that comes witj an Auto box. Throw in a remap and it will be properly rapid.
Or what about this?
I just found a great car on Auto Trader.

Not really a Vauxhall though is it - and you probably won't lose much money (except at the petrol station!)

An XFR would be cheaper, more stylish and more powerful / much quicker!

XFR is a different kind of car though. The VXR8 is a muscle car and has bags of tuning potential.

Indeed - lots of add-ons for the VXR! The only real option to upgrade the XFR is a shortened pulley and remap - my local Jag specialist can take it up to about 595BHP, with plenty of extra torque. The trouble is getting the power down through the rear tyres. I had a bit of a "rear end moment" on a mini roundabout the other evening. This almost caused another rather different rear end moment! Leather seats are easy enough to clean, but not vented ones!!
