Observations

on Wed May 23, 2018 4:42 pm
Observed today.

The refinement (inside) of the current (2017) BMW 320d engine is NOT good enough.

I say that confidently as both a 2016 Mitsubishi L200 2.4 diesel and a 2012 Ssangyong Korando 2.0TD are both notably smoother and quieter inside (if not outside)

This is not good enough from BMW. Even typical PSA diesels such as the 1.6 fitted to everything on the road seems to be more smooth and less vibey than the BMW 2.0. Work to be done there!

Also, whilst i can't really get on with the exteror shape of the 2013 Lexus C200 Hybrid.....the interior is lovely. Lovely quality, comfortable, everything falls to hand. The strange shaped mini-gearknob (auto) is also very satisfying.
Also...things like the little pop-out knobs that control the heated seats...you can like...turn them like....to set the heat just so....rather than having 2 or 3 settings. Little details like that, i like.

I sat in the Lexus right after the BMW and i preferred the Lexus. The BMW was more sporty of course...but not necessarity 'better'.

The BMW did shift though, no doubt about that.

ADDITIONAL:

I forgot to say - the Lexus interior is very nice as i mentioned - but it does include some strange old toyotary switchgear from possibly some time ago. I find it quite charming but others may sneer and say it cheapens it.

That poor BMW diesel has to go in all cars from the 1 series to the 5 series from 100 BHP to maybe 250 BHP.

It's probably totally over engineered with bit's and bob's that can be sourced from various manufactures, be built in ten different countries and can be mass produced by Chinese or robots.

Then you complain they run a bit rough.... Mad

Razz

The interior is very nice as mentioned Spot, and very comfy and high quality. Tactile. I like my tactility.

Observations - you gotta put the time in, put the effort in, do the mileage to get results. You have to suffer.... to get results. (Joe Rogan Experience #1080 - David Goggins on youtube)

I didn't do anything today..  Mad
