Black wheels on a red car look good to me. Steelies missing the hubcap? Maybe if you're half blind. Gold? Now there's an idea...
Crix, leave it standard? The stereo is so much better since I ignored you on that score...lol.

Stereos yes. You can't see them. But....just think for a moment. When you see those oldish bmw around and lots of them have been chavved up, you must see around your area. I will allow it (not really but I'm in a good mood) but you'll have to be extremely careful not to induce the cheap chav bmw look.

Interesting how the ‘non-vain’ people, who don’t care what people think, are the ones that worry that black wheels look like steelies, or chav’d up ...

Just saying ....

LK you little tart!

LK and Teeps -

You MUST know what i mean - on older BMWs...when they reach the likes of the bottom feeders (like me) who dont have much to spend but like to blingbling (not like me) - you get the poorly modified BMWs with horrible alloys, dark lenses, stupid tints, scraping the ground, shite looking xenon light 'upgrades' - you must know what i mean.

Now...i'm not saying Teeps will be distasteful like that...but surely you must know what i mean.

Old BMW in red. On black alloys. It has to be done SO carefully! I can see it now if done badly.....terrible!

But....lets see. Teeps, this is merely my opinion

LK, let me put it another way... You know when you see a car so filthy and the front wheels have never seen a wash so they're black & brown with actual rust from the particles of disc ?

THATS what black wheels look like to me. Nothing to do with vanity, just makes me think "manky bastard doesn't look after the car!"

If someone isn't looking after their car, it's likely to be unsafe too...

....agree, Crix - needs to be done carefully - but gloss black could look good (in my opinion).

Andoo - I get that - but gloss black, on a nicely looked after car, wouldn’t look like that.

I used to hate black wheels - but maybe it’s just through exposure i’ve got to like them ...

Crix, I take your point but IMHO the E46 is past this stage now. They're too old to be the Chav bling car of choice, at least round my way.

Quite a few modd’d E46’s estates round my way - like the Volvo 340, the kids seem to like to slam them ... and whilst not my taste - they are always more tastefully modd’d than the drive through Halfords crew ....

E46 Estate I reckon could be a future classic

Doo, gloss black alloys don't look dirty IMHO. Should have gone to spec savers...

LK, the E46 tourings I've seen look like standard, cared for cars. I do see a few older slammed cars with stretched tyres etc but this is different from Chavved up cars. I know lads that are into this scene and they spend big money on their old VWs, BMs and Audis.

I agree about it being a future classic. I don't expect to lose much money on this car.

Exactly - I’ll get pics - but someone that used to work for us - he had a modd’d original beetle .... and his Brother has a lower E46 estate.

This is the Beetle

Not enough to get involved - but I like the mod’d VW scene ... would love a camper van ...

Of course - Singer 911 is the dream

Nasty.

Plenty of horrible looking E46s round here. Badly modified and driven.

Maybe it's just Geordies.

With used cars being so cheap and lease deals relatively affordable even in thr rougher enfs if town most people are driving newer cars.

I suppose if you had the option of the use of a 911 without having to own it or anything...it's always gonna be the choice.
