It's a stunner. That colour really 'pops'.

That's the trendy phrase, innit.

Northumberland County Show.

Primarily an agricultural show but many many many new cars there also.

"Pops"?
It's a very now colour that's for sure. A lad I know paid £1500 to get his new Focus RS in a similar shade of blue.

Extremely low battery today and due to other family duties, only managed these three pics!

Bonus prize to the member who can guess which vehicle I'm using tonight!

I’m hoping it’s the XV, it’s clearly the pick of the bunch

The XV will smoke either of those.

Actually, it won't. This particular one is a 1.6 CVT. It's just not right. It has to work very hard all the time, complete with a wailing engine as the transmission seems to find it needs to sit at 4000 revs for optimum performance.
It's actually a nice car to drive otherwise with sharp steering, a nicely damped (if a trifle bouncy) ride and strong modulatable brakes!
The interior is also very good quality and Hi tech, a step up for Subaru.

Efficiency?
I always think the idea sounds great on paper. ...no gears...a conical thingy with a belt that in a way gives an infinite number of gears...
But in practice they often frustrate. You just get a screaming engine note which doesn't change.
This one is also fitted with pretend ratios so it feels and sounds like its changing gear...but is it? I guess not.
Also, 28 mpg on the display....and I wasn't going crazy.

They're popular because they look funky and more interesting than a people carrier. They are quite silly though IMHO. It looks like my 6 year old styled it.

Drove the 2.0 XV today. It's very much the same but a little faster and less screamy. But still a bit screamy as I think the CVT is standard.
I also drove the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. This is a similar size to the XV but maybe more SUV like in style. I quite like the look of them. Angular.
Inside they are not as plush or as techy as the XV although it does have a touch pad thing and also a HUD!

The 1.5 turbo engine with 163PS gives vastly, vastly superior performance than either XV.
0-60 is quoted as.10.3s but that's rubbish. It's easily more like 8s.
Manual gearchange is generally good if not a great example of a Japosnickety box.
Ride and handling balance are better in the XV however with the Eclipse Cross being a trifle firmer and more cattery - but this clatteryness doesn't equate to better cornering. You sit a bit higher and for me, the seat doesnt go low enough.
So- the XV is better on the ride, handling and also refinement POV....and the interior and tech is more impressive..but it's let down very muchly by the CVT and relatively ordinary (albeit boxer) n/a engine in a world where turbos are now the norm.
Put the turbo engine and manual in the XV and it's be a very good machine!

Here are some Eclipse Cross pics that show the same colour and spec.
Quite nice.looking IMO.

XV - Subaru XV
POV - Point of View
CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission

Yes I did read your review, now I understand it too. :-)
