Thoughts - new car

on Fri Jun 29, 2018 6:35 pm
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201804275983785?atmobcid=soc4

Not for me - my brother.

He’s been running an old Saab for donkeys years, and it’s time to go.

Criteria is

£30k
Interesting, but not chav’y - is a solicitor, and needs to visit Clients in it.
Not German ...
Practicality isn’t an issue
Doesn’t have to be new

I suggested XF - too boring apparently ...

So, this looks lovely

?!

Any other suggestions -

Not German, XF is boring, but doesn’t mind Alan Partridge references?

If he does criminal law I’d have a cheap fast car to get out the place before my annoyed client

I suggested the Lexus ....

Think he just doesn’t want to go down the typical Audi, Merc, BM, route ... that’s Saab drivers for you !!!

Yes - F type would be suitable. Or a special edition XKR perhaps.

Lotus Evora !!!!

i8 would be amazing - but still out of reach.

I think he has, or had, a deposit on a Tesla Model 3 - but seems that most are cancelling their orders now ..

No, seriously - Tesla doesn’t appear to have the ability or money to fulfil the orders, and the car is way behind in terms of having it signed off for full production - so in short - lost confidence in the actually being able to fulfil the orders / fears over the finished article being fully tested/developed.

I think that a lot of people would love to see Tesla fail. I think they will succeed. Problems? Plenty of manuacturers don't properly test their cars before they start selling to the public. The reasons you are having with your BMW are down to an engine that has flaws that should have been found during testing. Fords 1 litre engine has suffered component failure due to plastic engine parts not being durable enough. The Skoda Fabia VRS 1.4 engine plagued with problems. 2 litre TFSI engines drinking oil faster than petrol.
The difference is that the motoring press tell us how reliable BMW and Audi are, yet Tesla having a few issues is cause for multiple headlines .

I've started to see quite a few of these around. Alfa must be doing better lease deals now etc. They are good looking cars, i reckon. The QV is the one, of course...but the standard one is still quite nice and a change to the norm of 3 series, A4 etc.

Saying that....is it a safe place to put your money? (relatively?) Answer - is the pope a Buddhist?
