BMW - 1 911 - 0

on Thu Aug 09, 2018 11:50 pm
Met my mate tonight and over a few beers we booked a joint family week away - Isle of Wight.

Anyway - which car are you taking mate ??

Oh, well it’ll have to be the Picasso ... you ??

BMW .... *smug face*

Fancy cars are all well and good - but no good if you can’t use them !!!!!

I guess I should have said ‘your 911 with a roof box’ Smile

Original one are now very cheap, and if you stay clear of the turbo versions - very reliable.

The second gen are looking good value right now.

However, car of the moment is the Mecan .... everywhere, and they sound awesome (for a small SUV)

Exactly. Very disappointed LK, the resident Porschefile didn't get the spelling right!
...
One could also get a Touareg, which is (lets be honest) im many ways pretty much the same car as a Cayenne....but with a less posh badge...for less.

I'm having Touareg withdrawal symptoms...even though it was never mine.

I know i go on about mpg and french diesel 'shitboxes' all the time...but a true petrolhead does exist within me..the warbling, throbbing 4.2 V8 which had the car rocking..and the song through the exhaust....it does do things to me.

I think the Porsche will do just fine, just like the 911 does and always has despite those predicting otherwise when some new competition arrives.

Make sure you drive the coast road on the south side - from Freshwater to Blackgang Chine. Lovely road with great views.
