2018 18 Citroen C4 SpaceTourer 2.0 HDI 150 Auto S/S

on Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:06 pm
Used to be known as the C4 Grand Picasso....i believe the Citroen & Picasso family name allowance lease thing has expired....so the name has changed to the SpaceTourer.

It is what it is, a large 7 seat MPV....perhaps with a bit of style, inside and out.

Pros - fairly comfortable, well equipped, refined engine and wind noise. Good looking IMO for this kind of car.

Cons - Big wheels look great but slightly spoil the ride...and give a bit too much road noise (perhaps exaggerated due to the very refined other aspects)

Auto is improved. In late 2015 they stopped using the old ETG automated manual gearbox and replaced with a 'proper' auto - and you can tell, it's better.

But not great. Some changes can still be felt and its not the smoothest. But then *some* changes are quick and/or imperceptible and it's quite well behaved...which rarely or never happened with the ETG 'box.

Ermm....what else to say?

Well, this has the 150bhp diesel with a chunk of torque...but it didn't feel like it to me, so i had to check. Peformance just felt a bit....meh. It's probably quite a heavy thing, though. (approx 1550kg ish, so perhaps not as much as i though.)

0-60 = 10s
30-70 (kickdown) = 10s
30-50 (kickdown) = 4.5s
50-70 (kickdown) = 5.75s
70-80 (kickdown) = 4s

There is definitely an approx 1 second delay when asking for kickdown, so performance in affected accordingly.

I've driven said car again and it's a nice enough way to mooch around. Nicely refined and a recent ride, despite the big wheels.

PSAs autos seem to have improved. Or at least, the 'normal' autos are much smoother than the ETG automated manual ones.

However....having driven DSGs and the like.....you expect very quick and smooth changes....and this doesn't do it.
