Not aggressive enough

on Mon Sep 10, 2018 9:45 pm
BMW is for sale ...
Love it’s comfort, relaxed nature, roof down fun ..
But - it’s a pain getting the kids in the back, and it’s not aggressive enough for my liking ...

Will only sell if I get a good price, but had a call already.

The advert looks ok - but the mileage is quoted as 2 different totals - 46500 vs 48200. I think you need to photograph from more angles, especially 30 degrees off the rear quarters. Some angles make the wheels look rather small and the rear overhang too big? Getting further back with a slightly longer lens would sort this.

The same money would get you into a 2010 Jag XFR with about 60k miles on the clock. Plenty of room for the kids! Just saying..... but may not be aggressive enough for you.

Hugh - cheers - mileage changed - will try and tackle photos again.

Crix - maybe a touch - but i'll take some off if needs be, and had a call already.

Probably not buy one - but fancy a new Focus RS.

They dont do it for me. I mean...they'll be great....but to me theu have no road presence over a ST (unless thats the attraction) and the 2.3 engine has known issues (check PH forum for info)

Unless you can get one cheap....i dont know if it would be a good call....yet. Maybe one day they will go up in value circa the previous RS versions.....

How about a nice Focus MK2 ST?

Alghough that wont have a performance advantage over th 330iM///

Maybe consider a Golf GTI or R ... a hot hatch, with roof box (put on for trips away) feels like a nice option right now - DSG of course.

Like the idea of the kids having doors, and being able to get themselves in and out easier .. and something a bit more chuckable.

Don't get me wrong - good car - but starting to wonder whether the cons of having a convertible outweigh the pro's.

Not sure an RS would cut it. Quick car, but I don't think the stuck-on spoilers make it aggressive.

Come to think about it, why do you want aggressive?! And what cars are aggressive?

Not really aggressive; just sh1te?!!

I did look at a "normal" Civic the other week. Mid range, I guess. Priced at the dealership at a shade under £20k. Looking at the spec sheet, I was amazed to see it had a 1 litre engine!! Astonishing.

I quite fancy a Mondeo Titanium estate. Would have to be auto though.

Or one of the new Citorens with the 4WD system that uses electric motors at the back. How feckin awesome would it be trying to work out where the wiring had snapped Mad Razz Laughing

Buyers words ...

'Yours stood out a mile from all the other cars'

Make all the pink leather jokes you want ... Smile

Really thought I might have done my money on that car .... wanted to get out whilst the sun was out.

OK LK - the pink leather turned out to be a selling point. I guess that Elton John bought it?!

Did you resolve all the running issues in the end?

Nope - never was fixed - but BMW told me it was a cracked valve cover - so I told the buyers this, and the car was booked in to have it fixed tomorrow, at a cost of £500 ... so I took that off the car ....

I could have hidden it from them, but I did the right thing, and I know that I can move on with no horrible phone calls or recourse.

GTIs are great - but you'll be going full circle back to a BMW 1 Series equivalent. I can't remember what you found wrong with that, but I suspect that you thought it didn't offer enough of an experience or excitement!

LK.....*sigh*, you're never going to be happy because you dont really know what you want, you change your mind more than i change my trollies..........from the outside looking in, its simple, you want a fast, aggressive car that can seat the kids and a roofbox if needed.....so basically you need an audi S or RS model, or a BMW M model (a real one, not an estate agent dressing up a 1.6 by putting M before its numbers - god you can tell you sell stuff for a living Very Happy )

you'll be bored of a golf quicker than you were bored of the mini/bmw/bmw/everythihng else, you like big displacement, so the gulf, although quick, wont satisfy you (and, as already stated, they are driven by twats)

stop poncing around and get that keeper
