911 turbo is the worst 911 in my opinion ... lacks noise and drama ... I’d rather a ‘slower’ 911 - any of them ...

Awesome performance!

I’ve only been a passenger in 996&997 turbos which were also awesome at the time...

Still waiting for a lift in a 991 4S PDK thing which should be fun

For me the turbo's (and I have driven one) are awesome in performance, but completely lacking in character.

The turbo(s) rob the car of sound, and fizz .... I suspect in a similar manner that people say that most of the McLarens (which are turbo charged) lack the fizz of the Ferrari's (which are mostly normally aspirated).

I suspect you'll warm to Porsche a lot more, once you've been in the 4S.

I'm guessing the 911s have some kind of 'launch' function that the XFRs don't?

No launch control on an XFR - even with a bone dry road in hot conditions you can never floor it. I'm going to do a timed 0-60 soon, starting in 2nd....

As for the Porsche, there is much witchcraft to get to 60 in sub 3 seconds! Not far off a Tesla...

That's all very well, but can it go up Drumossie Brae at 80mph in 6 inches of snow?

I doubt it.

This is where you need all year round practicality of a Range Rover fitted with LPG for cheaper running and winter tyres for, well...winter Very Happy

Anyway, a car is not a car without practicality Razz

It's a shame the 911 wasn't up against this GT-R... Wink

what the hell are you wayne kerrs on about, a Porsche with a turbo has no character?, a porsche turbo wont do 80mph up a snowy hill??

i couldn't care less about noise, i'd opt for whatever got me there the quickest!, and i'm pretty sure a 4 wheel drive Porsche with studded tyres would not only get to the top of a hill first, but would simply laugh at a 10 tonne jalopy wobbling up it

honestly, what drugs are you twats on Smile

Got me winter tyres on George, so it's a waiting game for snow.

Tomorrow, I'll mostly be stripping a window motor from a Rolls Royce to see why it's not happy.

Friend of mine has two and three Jaguars, two limousines and one SWB.

I get to do the electrical repair jobs.

All fun & games.

But they don't tend to roll through winter.... So back to George 😁

handbags it may be, but if you prefer to hear something rather than feel something, then thats cool......now i understand why your wife prefers me in bed as i get her to where she wants to be quickly whereas you just make noises and think its cool Wink

Maybe it's his turbo speed that doesn't do it for her spot 🤔

I hear you jump on, pump once and the ripple effect takes over...😂

Rightly or wrongly, sound is everything to me ....

Not that i’m too fussy what that sound is ....

Even a little 3 pot petrol is music to my ears - but it’s got to have noise .... and the Turbo 911’s (well the one I drove anyway) literally had no noise (compared to the normally aspirated cars)
