A good week

on Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:55 am
Well, the Roadster went back on the road last week, and I've done about 300 miles in it so far. I'm not over pushing it as it's not that many miles since its long term slumber - it was parked up for a couple of years). I think it's had a remap; certainly seems to have more poke than before and feels as quick as our ForTwo Brabus. I filled it up the other day and it has managed 52.25 mpg.- rather good, I thought.

Getting back into the Jag for a 300 miles round trip, it felt huge! Also very smooth - more so now that I've removed the Spires Exhaust. The Jag doesn't do 52.25 mpg - on the run to Hitchin and back it managed 27, which isn't too bad I guess.

So, using the Roadster for the majority of my commuting will save about £1300 a year, as well as. Shall get some more pics and do a proper review - maybe even a video one!!

Two cool cars on the go Hugh!

Might be over your way before Christmas, will message you if I do. Is it wrong to say I’m more drawn to the Smart than the Jaaaaag although obviously the Jag is the far better car

Cool. I've still not seen many, actually any smart roadsters on the road, the one I saw was in a car park. Plenty of Jag's.

Let's see what you think after driving every day to work for a week in the roadster. That's gotta be the real test.

90% of the time the Jag must be the better all rounder?

How much do you think you have in the Smart now? Hopefully not more than you could sell it for

Both cars have a huge fun factor. The Jag feels very special, the Smart has loads of character.

Gave the Roadster a polish and wax yesterday - not too bad for a 14 year old!!!

It's worth about £800 less than I have paid for it, plus the repairs. But it will save about £1300 a year in fuel. Second hand values are fairly stable.

If you add the cost of the repairs, then yes.

I look at it as my commuting car; as it's so much cheaper to run than the Jag, the ROI should be about 18 months. If the engine goes after that, it's worth just swapping out (about £1250 for a reconditioned one - with 12 month 12k warranty) and getting another. An engine change hopefully won't be necessary for the foreseeable.

On top of that it keeps the miles down to about 7k miles a year in the XF.

As the sun is out, I may go topless today!

Three spoke alloys are usually a disaster but those quite suit the car. Looks good!

Yep, still looks great.

My stepdad has got his back on the road now after it was out of MOT for several months. I've not driven it for quite a while but i will again, im sure.
