2019 goals

on Thu Dec 13, 2018 5:34 pm
... anyone got any car related plans or goals for 2019 ??

Not sure about mine as yet ?

The A3 convertible, actually, has a lot of positives to it and keeping it ... but can I stop myself from selling it when it warms up in Spring .. and if not, what the heck would I replace it with?

Thinking about spending some time in an SUV ... so maybe I spend the majority of 2019 in the convertible, and trade it just before the colder weather sets in.

2019

Not die.

Get my windscreen fixed.

Go on holiday.

Not get fired or laid off.

Make sure various health problems don't get the better of us.

That's seriously about it for me.

I really want a next car on 2019.
The car side of things has totally stagnated for me, in no small part to the new dealership gaffer's policy of zero 'deals' on trade cars to staff. Or any cars really.
Away from cars....a holiday would be nice but unlikely.
Just heath and relative happiness for the family really.

will change the 235 next year, plan was always to keep it for a year.......i'm loving the E class coupe convertible, perhaps in 43 guise, but suspect it will be a tad out of budget

E Class is great great car ... not to mention 'Gay car of 2018' ... true !!!!

Let me know what you want / what you can buy the 235i for in time ... could be interested (Although I will have a ridiculous question to ask about the rear seat belts).

The rear seat belt design in my 3 series convertible was horrific when used with child seats, and one reason I got rid of it .. my current convertible is much much better in this regard.

So - in my A3 convertible .. the seat belt anchors are together, and in the middle of the seat seats ... so the key to this is, the kids can do the seatbelts themselves, as there is a gap between the car seats, and a gap then to the belts.

The 3 series was a right royal pain in the ass, as BMW decided to run a central cupholder, storage area, down between the seats .. but this meant that the car seats sat on the seatbelt attachments ... which means the kids couldn't do their own seatbelts, and I had to climb in the back with them, and pull the car seats around, in order to make space to buckle up the seatbelts ... a massive, massive pain in the ass.

So, with car seats in the back - could kids do up their own belts ?? ... sounds trivial, but its a deal breaker.

See below .. and look at the distance (or lack of) between the isofix points and seatbelt attachments.

3 series rear seats ... carseats end up sitting on the seat belts ..

A3 rear seatbelts are away from the car seats (and isofix attachments) ..

If yours is like this .. it looks like BMW have learnt their lesson

To be honest I would like to punch you all in the stomach.. not so hard just so hard as you can take.

Yeah that's I would like to do in 2019.

Well I'd love to say I'll get a new car in 2019 but I'll probably wait - with high childcare costs at the moment, and some work related uncertainties next year, as well as the current motor serving me well in terms of practicality and getting trashed by the kids!

Haven't decided what I'd swap it for anyway. I'm liking the look of a 4 series gran coupe though.
